Executive Summary

Fachvereinigung Edelmetalle is a German industry association that represents the interests of the producers and manufacturers of precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, palladium and platinum group metals, as well as traders, banks and federations vis-à-vis German and European authorities and Non-Governmental Organisations.

Fachvereinigung Edelmetalle has 39 members representing more than 7.000 employees.

Chairman is André Christl, CEO, Heraeus Precious Metals, Hanau.
Vice-Chairman is Dr. Bernhard Fuchs, CEO, Umicore, Hanau.
Treasurer is Thomas Frey, CEO Heimerle + Meule Group, Pforzheim.
Managing Director is York Alexander Tetzlaff. Office Manager is Anja Wiegand.

The basis for being highly competitive is the activity of the members in the field of recycling that contributes to a newly circular economy. Precious metals can be recycled again and again with minimal losses of material and are therefore a perfect example for the protection of natural resources.

Fachvereinigung Edelmetalle is in charge of representing the political interests of its members in the fields of economic policy, environmental policy, tax policy and raw materials policy as well as responsible sourcing.

Fachvereinigung Edelmetalle and its members commit themselves to their social, environmental and economical responsibility.

Within the bounds of their business the members of Fachvereinigung Edelmetalle actively respect, support and encourage humanly working conditions, social progress, environmental sound management of their production, processes and their products, health care, transparency and open communication.

Precious metals can be found in numerous technical applications, luxury products and as an asset.

As an essential part of catalysts precious metals keep our air clean; in the electronic sector precious metals can be found in computers, smartphones , navigation systems and medical devices; furthermore precious metals are used in the chemical industry, in solar cells and in jewellery, watches and life style products.

To summarize: there would be no modern life with all its achievements without precious metals!
